NTT Japan sponsored a Cluster Developer Meeting the day before JPUG. As the lead developer of Postgres-R, I've been able to attend that meeting and give a short 5 min presentation about the state of Postgres-R (slides).
I already knew some of the developers of the discussed clustering and replication solutions from Toronto. Others, especially many Japanese developers and projects were new to me, among them an approach that's pretty similar to Postgres-R, namely Postgres-2.
Update: Josh Berkus wrote a good summary of the meeting and Selena Deckelmann published a photo of all participants in her blog.
